Her dad had taken away her trust in people.
He had violated her innocence.
He had failed her.
Maybe you've gone through something similar. Maybe someone you've trusted has abused you and hurt you in ways that reach deep into your spirit. You feel like a prisoner to the memories and the shame.
You want to give up.
I have something to tell you, my friend.
You are going to be okay.
What's happened to you doesn't define who you are.
You are not ruined for life.
Just like my friend, it is possible to heal from your wounds of abuse. There are people willing to help you. No, they won't judge you or think badly about you. Yes, they will try to get help for the person who's abusing you. Don't you want them to stop? It would be best for everyone if they did. Don't be afraid.
You are going to be okay.
Make this prayer your own:
Dear Lord, Give me the strength to step out and get the help I need. Let me feel your arms around me and surround me with your love. Please stop the nightmares and memories from coming to my mind. Help quiet my sobs and heal my pain. On sleepless nights, come and comfort me with your presence. Let me know, in a tangible way, that there is hope. Give me a hopeful outlook on the future.
